Smart Water: Why it Matters
Challenged with massive growth and pressure from various human activities, providing clean and save water is one of the serious issues cities must tackle. Better water management that ensures the availability of water more efficiently is urgently needed. Smart water with integrated and data driven approach is one ways cities can protect this precious resource. Often overlooked, water system could take up half of a city’s energy usage, Gourbesville (2019) argued. With the help of censors and improved water infrastructures, a meaningful and actionable data can be gathered, and city manager then be able optimised their water operation and cut energy uses and water loses. Smart solutions in the water system could also provide real time monitoring to detect leaks of measure the quality of water, thus making repairs easier and faster.
