Smart integration for an environmentally sustainable city development

City development that prioritise the environmental sustainability is the value that City of Surabaya hold. To ensure this value is implemented by the city’s officials, City of Surabaya utilize an integrated system not only in the planning process but throughout the implementation andalso monitoring & evaluation process. City of Surabaya establish a framework that integrates the existing tools built by the national government such as e-planning, e-budgeting and e-controlling, then takes it a step further by conducting more frequent periodic evaluation. While the standard evaluation is conducted once or twice a year, City of Surabaya evaluates their budget,programs and progress of development every two to three months. The frequent evaluation not only gives the information of what’s working and not working but also allows the government officials to rethink and possibly reallocate the resource when a program does not work as effective as expected.
