Smart City Policies Impact on Urban Innovation
On the previous article, the significant positive impact of Smart City for the urban economy was explored. Caragliu and Del Bo (2019) investigated further on how Smart City impacted the urban economy. Study was conducted to see whether urban innovation is how cities achieve the positive urban economic outcome by implementing Smart City Policies. Through Propensity Score Matching (PSM), a statistical matching technique to estimate the effect of a treatment, policy or other intervention. The result shows that Smart City Policies do have consequential influence on urban innovation due to their role in increasing the city’s stock of knowledge, which is one of the main recognised drivers of economic growth. However, it is pointed out the importance of keeping the goals and implementation as to local actors. This ensures that the Smart City Policies relevant to the particular local context, thus provide better results for local citizens.
