Crucial Factors for Successful Smart City

Siokas et al. (2021) maps, evaluate and analyse local municipalities strategic action that contributes to the success of Smart City. First, the study found that having digital tools and infrastructure is significant for the success of the adoption of Smart City model. Having open and accessible information & tools and greater utilisation of them leads to greater transformation of the Smart City initiative. However, this factor needs to be combined with appropriate digital skill of the people, thus investment inn creating an environment that are friendlier for digital technology adoption is critical. Next, smooth transformation of the local municipality requires well planned digital transformation strategy that arise from accurate analysis and mapping of the local condition and need. Lastly, the Smart City implementation benefit greatly from favourable social, economic and political environment that support the initiative, thus in conjunction of the Smart City adoption, local government should build trust and partnership with citizens and city stakeholder to have the support needed for the digital transformation of their Smart City.
